I study collective behavior in animal groups using an active matter physics approach, focusing on how simple local interactions give rise to emergent collective dynamics.

By investigating soldier crab swarms in field experiments on Iriomote Island, my research aims to clarify the ecological benefits of group living, particularly in collective escape behavior, through image-based tracking and physical modeling.
