Starting Camos Tap Talks

Camos Tap Talks is starting. It’s an event where we invite researchers to a taproom and talk about research over beer.

Every Friday, I work at a taproom called Hongo Kikusaka-cho Camos, near the University of Tokyo’s Hongo campus. Maybe it’s the neighborhood, or maybe it’s the owner’s personality, but the people there are always friendly and full of curiosity. I often end up talking with customers about research.

Having a place like that so close to the university felt too good to waste. I wanted to create something academic but approachable, and that’s how this event was born. I’m excited to see “Camos” grow into a place that connects the university and the local community. Besides, things are usually more fun with beer.

For the first event, I asked Karita-san, an assistant professor in our lab, to give the talk. We’re still figuring everything out as we go, so I’m really grateful that he agreed to help. Even aside from that, I personally can’t wait to hear his talk.

While preparing for this first event, I’ve been buried in JSPS applications, May Festival stuff, and our lab’s journal club — and on top of that, I caught a terrible sore throat. Honestly, it’s been hell. But after surviving all that, here’s the poster I made. I’m pretty proud of it.

We’ll be waiting for you at Camos on Friday, May 29, from 7:00 PM. Hope it goes well.
